George Hadjimichalis was born in Athens in 1954.
His first solo show took place in Ashantour Bacharian’s Gallery ‘’Ora’’ in 1977, and he has been exhibiting regularly ever since.
In 2001, the National Museum of Contemporary Art held a large exhibition, George Hadjimichalis, Works 1985-2000, and a show entitled George Hadjimichalis, ‘Seven Works’ (1990-2000) was organised in 2002 by MoMA/PSI in New York. In 2005, he represented Greece in the Venice Biennale.

The work of George Hadjimichalis is versatile. His works are part of greater units. In creating a piece of work, he often employs a variety of different media, such as video, photography, text, painting, printmaking, etc.
Several units that make up the artist’s body of work have never been exhibited.

He studied painting at Hammersmith School of Art and at St. Martin’s School of Art and Design from 1971 to 1975
Lives and works in Athens and at Sfedouri in Aegina, Greece
