Eleftheria Tseliou gallery is happy to present the show ‘Multiples’. The show opens on Wednesday, June 15 and will be on display until the 15th of September, 2016.
The importance and the place of uniqueness is one of the central themes of contemporary art, and this is what the show deals with. The freedom enjoyed by contemporary artists in using media, enables them to create works beyond specific frameworks. In other words, an artist can paint in a canvas or use this material to create something else, something different from the initial material, to make photos, videos, engravings, sculptures, happenings, artist’s books and many more.
The multi-project concept can take many aspects. In this exhibition it materialises through copies in any material and means that the artist will choose. The copy can be made with the use of technology and with mechanical means or be a reproduction by hand.
Most of the twenty two artists participating in this exhibition, have not systematically created works with the use of copies. In this show the artists present works in three copies with the exception of those who, although their work is usually produced in copies, in this case participate with a unique work.
