Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery is happy to present the exhibition ‘Ceramics’, which opens on Saturday, December 15 and will be on display till the 26th of January 2019.
‘Ceramics’ is presented in the context of the series of shows, first established at the gallery in 2017 with the artists’ books exhibition ‘Library Show’, which aims at exploring the various media allocated in artistic production.
Pottery, a most significant part of the history of art, is ever present in contemporary practices. The history of ceramics, often characterised by decorative qualities and usability, is full of masterpieces, from all eras and all cultures. Focusing on the 19th century in Europe and till today, pottery has been developing in the most exciting way.
This show that tries among other things to record –to the extent that this is possible, and with the help of some private collections too- the great ceramic tradition of contemporary Greece, from the 19th century to now, presents works by: Antonakis, Theodora Chorafa, Maria Efstathiou, Vassilis Gerodimos, Konstantin Kakanias, Apostolos Karastergiou, Dionisis Kavallieratos, Zoe Keramea, Ilias Koen, Yannis Moralis, Margarita Myrogianni, Nikos Nikolaou, David Sampethai, Aleaxandra Solomou, Eleni Vernardaki, Chrysa Voudouroglou, Vasilis Zografos, Kourtzis studio (Lesbos), Lemonis studio (Sifnos), Lempesis studio (Sifnos), Canakkale ceramics.
